Player Labels and Readable Ribbon Scale

I'll switch to main and pull the latest remote changes. First I'm checking the current branch and whether the working tree is clean.
The working tree is clean on build/release, and local main is 16 commits behind origin/main. Checking out main and pulling now.
You are on main, and it matches the remote.
The local branch fast-forwarded from e2c30fc to f6d59c3 (Merge pull request #7 from kernelKain/coderabbitai/autofix/e858bd6), picking up the 16 commits it was behind. The working tree is clean.
I'll look through the docs, open issues, and remaining notes in the code so the gap list reflects what's actually still unfinished.
The product through the feature freeze is already in the repository. What is left is proving the live pipeline, a real walk, the public deploy, and the submission package.
The execution record in Docs/HANDOFF_2.md treats later phases as fixes and release checks. New user-facing features stop at the end of P3.
Waiting on you
These steps are written down and not done:
- Deploy to Render (P2.0 and P4.4). No Footwork service has been created, and there is no public URL. The local release record is ready: disk paths, daily caps of 4 Gemma attempts, 240 GPU seconds, and 6 music attempts, and
GENERATION_ENABLED=false. The smoke check is stillGET /health,/and/studio, and those dashboard caps. Rollback is redeploy commit6915426and leave generation off. - Record one real outdoor walk (P2.6). Browser recording, draft recovery, interruption handling, cleaning, and the four detectors are implemented. Acceptance for a genuine walk is still open until you record one and only a sanitized fixture is saved. Raw coordinates stay out of Git.
- Listen to the seed Studio track (P3.5).
artifacts/eleven-arrangement.mp3is a 60-second Eleven proof (song6JZhKLyXn9BrPEPAnUQC). It was not made from a seed walk, and nobody has confirmed that a turn, a pause, and a third mapping are audible. No reviewed cached example has been stored. - Install the CodeRabbit GitHub App on this repository. The config file is committed; the app install is still unconfirmed.
Still blocked in the live path
The arrangement and music code exists, and the job pipeline calls it, but production refuses to use it.
- Gemma is not proved (AC-04). The Space at
kernelkain-footwork.hf.spacewas recorded asNO_APP_FILEand returned 503.hf-space/app.pyis in the repo, and the live dispatcher still uses a blocked arrangement client that always fails. A finished walk therefore returns a Route Sketch and never asks Eleven for audio. - Music generation stays off in the public blueprint. Eleven rendering runs only when
GENERATION_ENABLEDis the stringtrueand a validated Gemma plan exists. The blueprint leaves that flag false. - No cached Studio example. The bundled piece is still the synthetic example, labeled Example walk. A separately stored, human-reviewed Studio example is a required deliverable and is still missing.
- Phone-network timing was not measured. Cached playback within five seconds, and a live attempt ending or falling back within 180 seconds, are not claimed.
Not started: demo and submission (P5)
None of this phase has been implemented:
- README, architecture notes, rights notes, and an unpublished DEV draft.
- A 60-second demo, a backup video, and a judge runbook. The Hook has to appear in the first ten seconds, and prepared playback must not be described as live generation.
- The challenge submission itself: tags, template, links, and the published DEV URL.
- The final verification record that matches this file to the deployed release.
Explicitly not in this build
Mood choice, Pocket Mode, a public share link, a desktop QR code, a second mood, and a remix are later ideas. Uploads, accounts, maps, elevation, lyrics, and background recording are out of scope. Audio range requests were also left out: an authorized artifact is returned in full.
Pull the latest changes from remote repo. What else is there left to be implemented? These are implemented: doen with render deploy: https://footwork-m6g0.onrender.com/; I rreecorded the real walk of 5 min and took serval truns and gap, pace chanegs, ect but teh auido resutlt came out to be same auido can't see the differencce ,c an't feel any diference, the audio sound is also quite annoying. the route tracing was good though, i can't uderstand movement ribbon, below the soud it shows"this sound is an example made in the browser, it is not a studio recording", so we need an actual stuido recording of the path i made; also i dont have option to share my result to someone else or see it in a browser; i headr the aritifact clip but it felt too artifical, but there were soem changes i could obsereve but not many ; code rabbit is already isnatlled;
I'll pull the latest remote changes, then check the live generation path against what you heard: the same browser example, no studio recording, and no way to share the result.
main is up to date at 34a9f74. The new commits only fix the Render build script, a backend lint failure, and a flaky keyboard test. Nothing in that pull changes how a walk becomes music.
The Render deploy, the CodeRabbit install, and your outdoor walk close those three items. The sound you heard is the part that is still unfinished, and it behaved the way the current code is written.
Why that walk sounded the same
A finished walk on https://footwork-m6g0.onrender.com/ cannot become a studio recording yet. GENERATION_ENABLED is false, and the live dispatcher still uses an arrangement client that always fails. The server then builds a Route Sketch: one 60-second sine tone. The pitch falls until the first turn, rises until the first pause, and goes silent through that pause. Later turns, pace changes, gaps, and loops do not change the tone. Every walk therefore sounds like the same beep, which is why it felt identical and harsh even though the route followed you.
The line under the player, “This sound is an example made in the browser. It is not a studio recording,” is hardcoded on every result, including one made from your walk. The route can be yours while the caption still talks about the example.
The clip in artifacts/eleven-arrangement.mp3 is a separate Eleven proof. It was not composed from your five-minute walk. Its plan only splits the minute at a few event boundaries, which matches hearing a few changes and an artificial result.
The movement ribbon is a timeline of the same minute: cyan for accepted movement, blue for a manual break, hatching for a signal gap, and amber ticks where a detected moment is supposed to meet the music. The graphic itself is hidden from screen readers, and that one sentence is the only explanation, so it does not show how those moments changed the sound. In this build, most of them did not.
Still to build
- A studio track of that walk. Deploy the Gemma Space, stop failing the arrangement closed, and set
GENERATION_ENABLEDtotrueon Render with the Eleven key. Only a validated plan is allowed to call Eleven. Until that path runs, the public site will keep returning the sine sketch. - Music that follows more than the first turn and the first pause. Pace changes, later turns, and loops are detected and drawn, and they are meant to change energy, melody, and a returning motif. Neither the sketch tone nor the current studio chunker makes those audible. The proof clip already showed how thin that mapping is.
- A result someone else can open. There is no share link and no public page for a finished walk. The result stays in that browser session, and the server copy requires a secret job key. Unique public links were left out of the original scope. Adding them is new work: a page someone can open, without putting raw coordinates in the link.
- An honest player label, and a ribbon that explains itself. The browser-example sentence should appear only for the example. A live sketch should say it is the simpler version. A studio file should say it was recorded from the walk. The ribbon needs a readable scale, not only colored bands.
- Save the sanitized walk, then review the studio file made from it. You recorded the walk. The approved fixture is not in the repo, and nobody has listened to a studio track of that route for a turn, a pause, and a third mapping.
- Submission package. The README and architecture write-up, the 60-second demo and judge runbook, the DEV submission, and the final verification record are all unstarted. Phone-network timing for the five-second cached start and the 180-second generation limit is also still unmeasured.
Possible Play: modiqo/hacker-news-browser-top-stories — say search Plays to review matches.
I'll record that the studio path is done and update the execution notes to match. First I'm checking the docs and the live generation path so the note matches what is actually in the repo.
The studio path is in place: the Space returns a validated plan, and you confirmed Render will send that plan to Eleven. I'll record that in the execution notes and the evidence files.
The studio path is recorded as done on October 11, 2026.
A finished walk asks the Gemma Space for a plan, and a validated plan is what gets sent to Eleven on https://footwork-m6g0.onrender.com/. You set GENERATION_ENABLED to true there and put the Eleven key in the dashboard. The labeled example still does not call either service. The checked plan in the evidence file was not itself sent to Eleven.
That note is in Docs/HANDOFF_2.md, Docs/evidence/gemma-access.md, Docs/evidence/music-hosting.md, README.md, and hf-space/README.md. The committed blueprint still lists GENERATION_ENABLED as false, so the running dashboard value is the one you set.
I'll check what changed for the movement-to-music mapping, then record that item 2 is done in the same docs as the studio path.
Commit 3bde4e8 makes later turns, pace changes, pauses, and loops audible. I'll record that in the execution notes and the music evidence.
Later movement is recorded as audible on October 11, 2026, in commit 3bde4e8.
The sketch and the studio plan now follow the rest of the walk. Each later turn flips the melodic direction. Every pause is silence. A pace change raises the level and adds a brighter fifth. A loop replays the opening line. The browser sketch uses the same rules. The October 10 Eleven clip, song 6JZhKLyXn9BrPEPAnUQC, was rendered before this plan.
That note is in Docs/HANDOFF_2.md, Docs/evidence/music-hosting.md, and README.md.
I'll check how a finished walk can now be opened by someone else, then record that in the same docs.
Implement this from your side and tell me what i need to do here: An honest player label, and a ribbon that explains itself. The browser-example sentence should appear only for the example. A live sketch should say it is the simpler version. A studio file should say it was recorded from the walk. The ribbon needs a readable scale, not only colored bands.
The player currently calls every result a browser example, and the ribbon is only colored bands. I'll change the label so it matches the result, and give the ribbon a readable scale.
The sentence under the player is still the example line for every result, and the ribbon has no time scale. I'll tie the caption to the result and add a readable scale beside the bands.
The sentence under the player now matches the sound, and the movement ribbon has a time scale plus a written list of what each band means.
- Example: “This sound is an example made in the browser. It is not a studio recording.”
- Live sketch: “This sound is the simpler version made from your walk. It is not a studio recording.”
- Studio file: “This sound was recorded from your walk.”
Under the ribbon, the song is marked at the start, quarter, half, three-quarter, and end. A list under that scale names each stretch in time: accepted movement and its relative pace, a manual break, an uncertain gap, and each turn, pause, pace change, or loop. The colored bar is still there. The times and the list are what you can read.
The studio, share, and live-sketch checks passed, including the accessibility check on that screen. The IDE browser could not be opened, so this was verified in those page tests.
To see it on https://footwork-m6g0.onrender.com/, commit and push this frontend change, then redeploy that service by hand. Automatic deploys are off, and no dashboard setting needs to change.
Possible Play: modiqo/hacker-news-browser-top-stories — say search Plays to review matches.
Briefly inform the user about the task result and perform any follow-up actions (if needed). If there's no follow-ups needed, don't explicitly say that.
The temporary studio preview has stopped. The player labels and the ribbon scale are already in the local frontend, and the page checks for them passed.
